Growing as an economy

In the game Civilizations IV there are many differnt ways one can view the economy. My approach to the economic status of my empire was to produce alot of agriculture. Colander takes chapter two and discusses the key concepts of trade and regulation of the market. He categorizes the economy by saying that there are three main coordination problems. These problems are deciding what and how much to produce, how to produce it, and for whom to produce it for. The technique I used in my computer game was that I would produce an abundance of agriculture by buidling mulitple farms near different rivers and therefore try to increase the production year after year, using the water supply to benefit me during dry seasons. My goal is produce a great abundance of wheat etc. therefore I can output this product to other empires and regulate the opportunity costs and have a stadn on the fixed price. THe main production in the Mangolian empire will be agriculture. It's greatest sense of wealth will come from outputting numerous amounts of these materials and will be very prosperous for the empire.
